The Government in Suriname envisions participating in the development of its natural resources. After long negotiations, the government negotiation commissions reached deals with multinationals involved, IAMGOLD Corporation and Newmont Mining.
This documentary aimed to educate the general public on sector and contract specifics. It answers to questions like “why is government participation useful”, “what will be the costs and the annual turnover”, “how will our peoples benefit from this deal”, et cetera.
In the documentary we hear representatives of the negotiation commission, the minister of natural resources, University lecturers in mining and entrepreneurs benefitting from these huge contracts.
